Air injection removal

Post by DeanoSeadog »

Checked out the TL forum about removing the Exhaust port air injection (PAIRS or something I think its called). They reckon it saves about 4 pounds (1.8kg's?) so I did it but found the raptor is different! So after many hours late at night with skinned knuckles, stripped bolt heads, and much swearing, I got it done! The raptor doesnt have any air pumps, or electrical soleniods etc. just a simple manifold vacuum operated diaphram, so I only saved about 300 grams!!! What a waste of time! The only good part is that at least now I don't have the silly little pipes with the poor quality chrome on them that need constant polishing to keep the rust away!
Anyway, done now.

I remember being told to fasten a blank washer or a penny over them to gain more top end oomph - but losing weight? I doubt it, - better if I stayed off the pies for a month

Got rid of em too
as well as the airbox flapper valve , solenoid, vacuum lines
Makes it look a lot nicer under the tank without all these messy vacuum hoses etc!
No bike is ever finished!
