weird newish clock's problem(kph)

Post by TLMONKEY »

Have just fitted a newish set of clocks to my cagiva rap.
Went out for a small ride and noticed clock digi speedo display is miles out of wack.
EG. Behind cars doing around 30-40mph,so expect kph clocks to be showing around 50-75kph,not 150+ kph.
Even went down a 70-80mph straight ive been down many a time and clocks showing 260-280kph
Also noticed that they aint showing any kind of temp reading on display like my otherset i took off and the chec bit doesnt show like it should when ya switch ign. on before ya switch the kill switch to on position?
Any1 got any idea's on what it could be?
THANK'S
Ian

Someone`s pulled yer trousers down and asked yer to touch yer toes i think. Surely the clocks should read the correct speed either in mph or kph as the speed sensor reads the revs of the front sprocket and even if it were a few teeth smaller it wouldn`t give that much of a far out reading?.
Hope i`m wrong but they sound like they`re donald ducked.
NOTE; bikes do not have air brakes, lofting the front wheel will have an effect on a bikes braking efficiency.
dont arf get the adrenalin pumpin tho!!!

I will refit my high miles mph clocks 2mora and take bike out to see,but i think ya could be right mate :(

Looks like i will have to spend the £60-£80 getting these zero'd as dont wanna be mot'in my 53plate frame with 28th clocks, especially as the only part of the engine thats done 28th is the crank, the rest of it is newish yoshi parts/bigbore and all the other panels/parts on the bike are off a 3 mile old x-raptor and newish casoli carbon
Here's a pic(who!! me!! a poser.....Nar,not me mate  )

Sure you didn't engage the star drive?
I take it that this is the clockset you had on your shelf, that I nearly bought?
Worth persevering, as the new price is extortionate, as I found!
Any signs of my seat panels, yet, please, pretty please?

No mate, the ones i was try to sell ya were my u.k. clocks with 28th miles on them, remember, thankgod ya didnt buy them now or i would have been fooked, then again i guess i would have just bought a set of tlr or sv1000 clocks.
I bought these on ebay months ago for a bargain price or what i thought was a bargain price, until i went out on bike yesterday :(
So guess i will go the recalibrate route now.

Your panels will be in the post tuesday steve

according to the micro fiche the part number for the clocks on the 1000 is

8000A0784

or

8A00A0784 for the UK one - MPH I guess rather than KPH

THis might not help if the part number is not on it though

Thanks for that, i will have a look, but 99% sure now that its gonna turn out to be ive been sold a set of 650 clocks as 1000 clocks.
Told be someone else today that the 650 clocks dont do/have temp and speedo doesnt run off frontsprocket but it pick's from either front or back(cant remember which 1 he said) so that would explain the speedo cockup.

I think that a quick way to tell the 650 from the 1000 is that the rev counter face of the thou is white, on the 650 its black. Can any 650 owners confirm this?

Confirmed. Seen it, and would love to get my hands on a black one as it would match the Xtra Rappy perfectly 8)
