Wrong time of year for it
bah ! Lights seem to have packed in, blinkers and rear light work fine but no headlight or pilot light. Last seen flashing (in friend's mirrors) so I don't think it's the bulbs.... riding is gonna be limited as the nights draw in

Fuses checked , cleaned all the contact blocks I could find with spark spray stuff, it seems I have lights but they don't work while the bike's in 'parking pose' (with the bars to the left like you would with the steering lock on)
they work just so long as the bars are straight ahead or to the right
so something is pulling somewhere

Prodded, poked, and twiddled, wrapped some uncovered wires with gaffatape, prodded and poked a bit more. And they now work
I think a major wiring re-route might be on the cards, but for now I shall go round the block and see if the wires stay in place/lights keep working
any excuse

Zip lock/cable ties are your friend
Also check the push/pull connector that is on the end of the wire as it goes into the connector blocks. These are a brass push in item and can wiggle out a bit so then do not make a good connection.
Cheers from NZ

thanks NZ I'm planning to take the front off and re-route/check over the wiring and connectors, however having seen the state of some of the bolts/crown washers attaching the clocks I may be some time
