Battery woes

Post by Mister_Ee »

Hi, I've got a 2001 V-Raptor which has been stood around for a while (18 months ish) and it's being a bit temperamental, (rough running, clocks and lights not coming on , or being dim). So I thought a new battery wouldn't go amiss, however once I eventually got it out, and what an arseache that was, it turns out to be a YTX9. Everywhere is listing Raptors as using YTX12, what's going on? What should I use?

Go for the 12 mate.

The 9 is the standard fitment, and don't ask me why 'cos i'm useless with electrics, but the 12 seems better suited for the Rap.

The extra kick up the pants always helps on starting.
To a Raptor....EVERYTHING else is just prey !!

as Wierdo says, either will work, only differance is the 12 is "heavy duty" in comparison to the 9.

I could go into the techy details but then we would all be really bored.........................

search for the battery type rather than for Raptor battery and you will find it cheaper!

Looks like YTX12ABS is the way to go rather than YTX12BS due to the former being a smaller battery and fitting under the seat better
