First post - good to find the Forum
Hi
Blown away that there is such a following just for the Raptor. I am a Cagiva nut so I was probably always going to end up here. Followed up on a couple of bikes over the last two months but yet to take the plunge and buy one.

Thank you Tikka, did you go for a 650 or 1000? It's got to be the 1000 for me but haven't decided on which of the 3 available yet - I quite like a conventional round headlight so may go for the Raptor.
Re: First post - good to find the Forum
I own a V Raptor 1000. I like wierd things and a V Raptor is just that, wierd. But it drives wonderfull. Had a specialist take on the suspension though. I'm rather large and heavy and needed firmer suspension for when the speed goes up. I have no experience with the 650 so no idea how that comperse to a 1000. I've read that there is even a difference in feel between a V raptor 1000 and a Raptor 1000 due to the extra weight of the nose section on a V Raptor.
Shame they are so rare otherwise you could testdrive to feel the difference.

HI Ho. You don't say where you are as I'm sure plenty of people will let you have a try on their peds. Personally for me it's gotta be the 1000 but I'm a lazy rider and don't like to change gear if I can help it but I've had a few sv650's and they're a massively underrated bike and will keep up with most things on the road. Mines a V raptor but I'm thinking of taking the front end off and giving it a more retro look
Re: First post - good to find the Forum
Hi Cowelly I am South London way and will look out for any Raptor meets on here : ) - they are so rare and I haven't paid them much attention even when I saw them until now. Have many Ducati engined bikes but everyone tells me how smooth the TL twin unit is so looking forward to it. One road-tester said the saddle was no good for long journeys but no-one else has commented on this so have dismissed it. Thanks for replies.

Thanks again for replies - yet to find a bike that suits. Was tempted by that Xtra on E-bay recently.

Welcome in
Yeah the OEM seat is a plank, I work on the "ride for an hour then stop for a coffee and fag" principle and it means that re-upholstering the seat hasn't got to the top of the priority list as yet, but I don't generally do more than 400km in a day and even then I always think "I must re-upholster this bloody seat".

Road racing's where it's at - going round in circles all day is for hamsters.

Just got me a 1000 Raptor in gunmetal, it's done 3800 miles. I keep hearing about people putting a different damper on the back to raise the ride height so I might investigate what's available but apart from that it doesn't need anything.

A thou in gunmetal? Ooh lovely , they were only in red or silver in uk, just the 650's were in the graphite/gun colour.Giocast wrote:55 years agoJust got me a 1000 Raptor in gunmetal, it's done 3800 miles. That mileage is half way to full run-in so there's plenty plenty miles of fun left for you there
Ride height lift is generally effected by replacing the triangles attached to the dog bone with a different geometry of triangle, there are posts on here about them, and the sizes. A Search on 'triangles' should find you something, good luck
