Problem, powder coated says sometimes JB coats fine, sometimes it doesn't. 50/50.




New rear disc and pads, bolts loctited and torqued front and rear. Brake lines on the front, headlight surround on, headrace bearings adjusted..



Anyone know the path the clutch cable takes?

Clutch cable route: basically whichever way feels free! Standard is inboard of the headlamp support, past the head-stock and down below the top radiator mount (there should be a wire guide there), along beneath the frame tube and behind the engine hanger, continuing along the frame tube until it disappears into the casing.

Cheers nick, every which way i put it was a pain to get it on.. did it this way and had loads of slack.

Bought a china special headlight, arrived broken so i got a refund anyway but i thought i'd try it on.



You can see in the picture it has a crack straight down the center of the plastic lense.. it would melt after 5 minutes use anyway.

The problem with headlights is that the width between the mounts is unusually narrow on the Raptor: you got lucky to find one that actually went in! My bike came with a naff aftermarket unit stuck out on extra brackets and I tried hard to find an original. No go, so I did eventually find a cheap plastic one that fitted, but still needed to modify the mounts and get busy with a heat gun to get clearance behind for the speedo drive etc. Not pretty, especially after I enlarged the hole at the back to be able to fit an LED H4, but it's out of sight. Final mod was to shoehorn a big Bosch lens/reflector unit from a Ducati Monster in there, and it looks neat and strong from the front. I do like a bike with a proper traditional face, which is why the V-Raptor has never appealed to me!

On the other hand, perhaps I should embrace diversity? Not that there's any room for another Raptor chez nous...

Speedo drive nick?

Theres a fair bit of room behind mine, it's just finding a good quality light in budget.. swerving towards the naked bandit headlight.

Nothing to do, and little money until payday, so I chucked this on

Yeah the brake hose route took me a few attempts to get right..

Any chance one of you could measure the sticker with the vin no on? By way of a miracle if you knew the font that would help

Got it together enough for a shakedown run, half mile to the fuel station & it appears it has suffered from a common fault. New gasket ordered and some RTV Silicone sealant.

I've also noticed its smoking on start up, blue smoke until its warm.

The gasket is an easy fit, if the plastic cover is not warped, the blue smoke usually indicates oil burning off, is there any in the airbox being sucked in?

Cover is about 2mm off in 2 places (top right, bottom)

The only sure fix I can see is a billet one, but I'm afraid I won't be putting anymore cash into this.

I'm mystified as to what cover this is! Cams?

Outter clutch cover nick, made of plastic.

Stupid stupid idea.

OK, sorry, I should have looked at your video.

I don't like the look of bubbles coming out, because they might suggest a failed engine breather or excessive blow-by from the rings. If the pressure isn't too high and you clean all the surfaces properly, I'd be surprised if a silicone sealer wouldn't out a stop to that, despite the warpage of the cover. You'd need to let it set for a while, of course.

you can always replace the cover with an aluminium Suzuki cover
