Raptor 650 v SV650 speedo

Post by alraptor »

Does anyone know if a SV650 speedo will swap with a 650 Raptor one? And if so, will it toggle between mph and kph? I've seen photos of the back of both and they both have a 16 pin connector. Could it be that simple?! I need to be able to show either mph or kph on a permanently mounted, hardwired, backlit, non GPS unit to pass an MOT in Northern Ireland..... Thanks

You can compare the wiring diagrams, below is the gen one SV 650 plug, you will need to find a Gen 2 as it will have an electronic tacho, then compare them with a raptor, i have given the Raptor one too. Looks like the pin outs are in a different order and the Raptor has an electronic Tacho. I am sure with a little bit of searching you can find something.

but I'm guessing you're not in NI? Otherwise you'll have encountered the mph to kph toggle issue? Still the best place in the world, despite the daft MOT rules 🤣

The SV clocks from 2003 look similar but I don't think will just clip in, so wiring would need reconfigured for the right pins. I can't find a simple diagram for the gen 2 SV clocks...

The speedos must be pretty dodgy, the svrider forums are chockers with threads about broken speedos, and also fitting aftermarket replacements.

I'm not sure if it relates to our speedos, but there is a wealth of info to be found there.

Have you had it MOTd there?! And did they ask about the lack of kph display?!

I have increased the filesize limit to 8Mb, but if your pics are bigger than that you will still need to resize them before uploading. Personally I use Paint to do a quick resize before I add them.
