Fuel light problem!!! argh!

Post by number8 »

Heya , been lurking a wile but nevr said hello so hello :D

had a raptor for a whle on and off and it always had the rather irratating problem that the fuel light stays on, if u have a long run 80miles plus it goes off and starts to work normally , but if u switch off the ignition it will just come back on ...

its starting to get irratating,

only mod ive done is fitting a sv650 rect-reg as the original concked out on me , there rated the same and it all works perfectly just the poxy fuel light!!!

any help would be greatfull

Oll

oh and how big is a raptor tank , after 100 ish miles ile fill up and normally put in 10-11L of fuel ... so is that nearly dry or half full?

welcome in No8 - :D

if the light goes off after 80 miles then you seem to have something plugged in backwards  or some wires twisted

some electrical clever cloggs on here who should know what it is

I had exactly the same fuellight prob when i had water in the tank because of a clogged drain.
Drained the tank and cleaned the drain, prob solved.

I could be wrong but the tank is 15 liter.
I read somehere that the first Raptors are 17L

now that sounds familiar

the bike lives outside and after heavy rain when i go to fill up there is always water in he filler drain area and almost certainly its getting into the tank hen i open up the tank cap

cant think why that would stop the fuel light working but ive heard of stupider things

i shal make that the first thing to look at when the bike gets layed up for the rebuild
powder coating
rebuilt forks + nitrided sanchons , black or gold , choices!
and a rsvr swingarm + ohlins shock

i shal be taking pics and making a how 2 guide :D
the italian pdf thats floating about makes hard reading for a gcse educatated itailian reader/speaker :D :D

a rear abs sensor breaking on a bmw r1100rs causing the bikes fi to throw a hissy fit and run so rich it emptied a 21L tank in 60miles!!!!
that took a while to diagnose
