Rear suspension

Post by Crap Tartan »

Hi all,

used the rap today and found the rear suspension has gave up.

It only has a small amount of compression then feels like it hitting a stop.

The movement that is there feels soft too.

I`ve had a look around and cant see anything obvious.

Before I get stripping it all down tomorrow has anyone any ideas as to what could be up?

Its a v-rap 1000 with only 2500 miles on it.

Cheers, Martin

Well problem solved I reckon!

Stripped the whole back end down and checked all the linkages which were all free and easy.

Noticed the bottom of the shock was wet from oil and reckon its blown the seal and dumped all the oil out and hence there is now no damping only the compression of the spring.

So on the lookout for a replacement shock (new or secondhand working) or any ideas on other shocks that fit so I could always upgrade if necessary. Remember summat about a mille one that fitted??

Any other thoughts or ideas or if you have a spare for sale then get in touch.

Also broke the clutch lever when the bike toppled over off the jack on top of me!! Luckily I was there to cushion the fall and stop any greater damage!

So a clutch lever is needed too so anyone any ideas??

Thanks all, Martin

Cheers, Coose, seen that earlier and am now scouring places for a Tuono shock.

Any ideas where else I might find one?

Hagon shocks work well and at just over £200 are good value too.
Sell it Martin and buy another Buell

YeeHaa!!!

Problem solved, spoke to my dealer who sold me the rap and he has said he will replace the shock for me. He reckons a cagiva one may take a long time to source so he is checking with Hagon to get me a brand spanker from them. He will even get them to send it direct to me to speed up the process and get me back on the road.
By fcuk, am I chuffed!

Now only need a replacement clutch lever. Anyone????

btw the dealer is John at Huntly Motorcycles.

A big up for him from me anyway!
