Help with Socket size for the Rear Spindle

Post by taz_116 »

Hi all,

My 1000 V-Rap didn't come with a toolkit and i haven't got a spanner big enough in my tool kit. Can someone let me know what size the rear retaining nut is so i can adjust my rather loose chain

Also has anyone else on here had problems aligning thier aftermarket cans? The left can (chain side) is always slightly lower than the right hand one and i can't raise it. Anyone got any info that might help?

Thanks in advance,

Si

My rear Axel nut take a 1" 1/8 socket, bit weird but hey, it's I'TALIAN. I also have issues with pipe symmetry but i think this can only be solved with a pipe bender. every time mine got hot after perfect alignment they would move.
where's the bar?

The chain side takes a 27mm spanner, whilst the nut on the brake side needs a 28mm spanner/socket. HTH.

Yeah and try finding a 28mm socket!!!!!

Here's a list of places that Don't do them or a 1" 1/8

Halfords
Machine Mart
Motorworld
Pretty much anywhere in Bradford!!!

If you think that nut is hard to get off (excuse the pun) wait til you get to the front sprocket! Took me and a mate with a blowtorch, the worlds biggest strong arm, a rod for through the wheel and yes we did need the 5' scaffy Bar.

My 28mm socket came as part of a set, but both the local hardware and independent motor shops have them also (bastidised one to make a swingarm removal tool - about £4 for a "Draper Expert".)
