Handlebars
Handlebars
Hello experts, help needed please! I am trying to fit a V-rappy "beak" to my standard Raptor but as usual I am having trouble getting things to fit properly..!!! (Mech challenged)
I suspect the V-rappy has wider bars, so the bars themselves and especially the master cylinder don't hit the horns when turning. Can anyone please put a tape measure on their bars and let me know the difference between a standard and a V? Basically I need to know the height of the riser bit in the middle and the distance between the ends ("W" shape). Both standard and V would be very welcome, thanks!
Hopefully the cables (throttle, clutch, idle) are the same length between models?
Also - is it normal to have a bit of a gap between the V-rap headlight and the surrounding plastic? I can't seem to adjust the gap out (about 6mm all round) but thinking about it I guess it's to let the headlight bounce on a rough road.
Cheers, Bfef.

Re: Handlebars
Thanks Shedmonkey much appreciated. If I read your measurements right I have got no chance with my naked Rappy bars:
total width 740mm (mine = 720)
rise 55mm (mine = 80)
unbent portion 165mm (mine = 130)
pullback 120mm (mine = 180)
So basically I need flatter, straighter bars with half the rise but overall about the same width....
Do you know what make your bars are? Or does anyone have any OEM ones for sale?
Thanks! Bfef.
PS: edited to add: Also, how do you make the switchgear grip on a chromed handlebar? even with tape it just spins around.

Re: Handlebars
mine are cheap alloy motocross bars with removeable cross brace(removed) and they do them carbon look switchgear is normally pegged onto bar by about a 5mm dimple, but not recommended on alloy bars

Re: Handlebars
Great, another headache caused by the last owner, no pegs on switchgear.
He must have cut them off to fit non standard bars.
Every step of the way I am thwarted, wish I'd never set eyes on the bike.

Check the Renthal website. They do just about every combination of shape and size and look good too. My switchgear grips my Renthals ok without the knobby bits.

Knobbly bits are always a PITA anyway.
I always file them off when I change bars.
They stop you from rotating a conventional handlebar for comfort.

Re: Handlebars
Just a single wrap of insulation tape on the bars & under the edge of the switch housing works great if it is a little slack.
