Dutch V Raptor Rider
Dutch V Raptor Rider
I want to introduce myself here.
My name is Edward and my homebase is in the Netherlands. Eversince the V Raptor was introduced I was hooked on the appearance and its design. There was no other bike that looked so spectacular in 2000.
I immediately ordered a brand new V Raptor 650. But due to financial problems of Cagiva those days, my V Rap was never delivered. The 1000 version I thought was too much for me, considering I only had a few years experience on a Honda VFR400R NC30.
The years after this deception I owned a Honda Hornet600 streetfighter, a Honda CB1 streetfighter and a Suzuki GSX600f Katana.
In january 2009 a bought a grey V Raptor 1000. It was a gamble because I wasn't sure if this bike would still be too much to handle.
But my luck, I was wrong. Very wrong indeed!
I never had a greater time riding on any bike I've ever tried.
8500 kilometers of fun in just 6 months time. Such overwhelming steeringcapabilities and power.
But....
...it was a grey V Rap. And my alltime favorite is a red V Rap. A new paintjob wouldn't do the trick for me. Too much to change. So last january I swapped my grey V Rap for a red one.

- This isn't real carbon but carbonlooking foil. Put it on myself. Quit a job but the result wasn't that bad, I think. Too bad the new owner removed it already....

- More carbonfoil. It's a lot cheaper than the real stuff.

Having fun on the racetrack (Dutch TT racetrack at Assen)! A perfect way to enjoy the skills of the V Rap.

It's been a while since I've posted for the last time.
My Red V Raptor is still my favorite motorcycle ever. Last year I went to the German Eifel with it. Those fast and twisty roads are its natural habitat. Love the punch of the TL1000 engine and the quick handling of the bike. Hairpins are no problem what so ever.
Done some trackdays too. The worldfamous MotoGP and Worldsuperbike racingtrack at Assen, the racetrack at Zandvoort and a small racetrack at Lelystad.
The only negative issue of the standard V Raptor is the lack of groundclearance. I know that a suspensionupgrade will improve the groundclearance but I want to keep mine as standard as it is. But I don''t complain. Better, I have all the fun in the world on the racetrack.
Because of a chronical knee injury I have a problem riding the V Raptor for several days in a row (roadtrips abroad). That's why I bought another bike for this purpose.
Its allroadsister, the Cagiva Navigator 1000. No kneeproblems anymore when having trips abroad.

Re: Dutch V Raptor Rider
That Navigator's a good looking bike. Pity that they'll be rarer than a standard Rap' cos if some of the parts swapped over, you could make a neat custom Rappy.
I was at the pub down the road today on mine when a bloke came over and said that he had a Gran Canyon. I was just on my way to the bar and he'd gone when I got back, so didn't get a chance to ask him about it. I live in the middle of nowhere in particular, so two Cagivas within a few miles of each other is pretty good.
