Re: someone remind me how to adjust the chain
Bike on sidestand
Loosen rear wheel nut but dont remove
Adjust allen bolts in each swingarm end clockwise
Adjust both sides the same
Adjust until chain has 15-25mm of travel in middle of bottom run.
Check adjuster lines on both sides are the same
Once alignment is ok, tighten spindle wheel nut up to correct torque
Recheck chain travel and alignment
Jobs a goodun

Re: someone remind me how to adjust the chain
Thanks CT it seems an age since I last did it, guess it's more due to the fewer miles I've been doing for the past four years, not the chain being any better than the last one (plus addled brain of course) only needs a small adjustment I think, but best to do it before the roads get more slippery

Re: someone remind me how to adjust the chain
Check with L6 in the Workshop Manual. That rear wheel spindle torque is 95/100 N-m, BTW
I assume that's with dry threads (cue discussion? I hope not! )
I had to buy a big torque wrench just for that. And it's always a relief when it clicks without having stripped the thread. It's that tight.
(I just noticed that the front wheel spindle fastening is also given as 95/100 N-m. I don't really understand why it should be so tight, given that the spindle is clamped by the forks. )
Also, you may want to move the bike forward in small increments, if you don't have an Abba stand, and keep checking the chain tension in case you find a tight spot, which is worse than having it loose elsewhere, IMO.
Speaking of chain tension and wear, did you ever consider the "hunting tooth" principle?
That's almost a private joke between me and Harvey, my six foot tall rabbit friend. Here he comes with the G&T…
Oh, the hunting tooth discussion was here (did I hear a groan?)

I'm sure everyone is anxious to know that I now have a 17T sprocket waiting for the spring…

yes, got the torques - and a wrench for same, old fashioned swingometer type
no abba stand, just a normal old paddock stand, but rolling back is what I generally do as she parks up a hill
hunting tooth ? the mental picture is not pretty - and has now't to do with sprockets
